okay, so if i had to i could easily list all of the depressing & shitty things that have happened in my life since the new year, up to and including this week's doozy, and the brazilian-blow-off isn't this week's doozy, btw.
but what i really want to say instead is that despite those trying times, despite feeling stressed and depressed ... i still have not had coffee or soda since the start of the new year and i'm proud of myself for deciding on something and sticking to it through thick and thin.
furthermore, i've been consistently exercising in my room which takes ~great~ motivation and dedication because there's a computer to offer up at a moment's notice any kind of desired distraction.
additionally, i'm still consistently hiking up to Namsan Park for my morning exercise. that's 320 stairs up and 312 stairs down and yes i see a difference in my butt!
moreover, i've started studying korean independently in preparation for my placement test on the 20th. my goal is to learn the Chinese numbering system (일, 이, 삼, 사, 오, and so on) and the Native Korean numbering system (하나, 둘, 셋, 넷, 다섯, and so on), the names of the letters of the Korean alphabet, all the pronunciation rules with examples, 100 new vocabulary words, and common Level 1 phrases.
to boot, today i went hiking with my korean study cards. it's great because i can practice out loud while walking around in the park because there are never more than 3 people there when i go, and get exercise.

touche! for not not giving into the negatives of your year so far and focusing on the positive! That is so against the "american way." Counting our blessings is a great lesson (tought by our mother) and really fuels the soul with hope and love and peace and joy...all the good stuff that seems to get such little recongnition.
Ok about the coffee and the language and the excersise...
WHAT'S THE BIG DOOZZY of the week
