new love unfoling

today i added another movie to my favorites list. Say Anything (1989).

i love my emotional side. i love that i can watch a movie like Say Anything and be moved to tears; the big crocodile kind; the kind that well up blurring vision then pour out raining on my desk ... and just like a surprise shower in the spring, it's all over in about five minutes.

Matt used to look at me with bewilderment and then laugh at my propensity for crying; for letting human drama touch me. we both laughed about the fact that when he was flipping through the TV channels, the moment i heard something even remotely dramatic or emotional - i could be in the kitchen or the next room - its, "oh, stop. go back. what was that on TV?" it could be something as innocuous as, "why did you do that to me?" or "OH NO!" or "gracy, you're not going to like this..." or "since i met you ..." or "i've never ..." or "let's go to ..." but if i heard it, my inner radar honed in on it. no matter how quickly he tried to flip through the channels so as to eliminate any perceptible dramatic dialog from spilling into the airspace within earshot of me, i could still detect the presence of drama. lol. there was nothing he could do about it.

at the top of the list of favorite emotions to see playing out on screen: LOVE. i love to watch new love unfolding. it's so strong and so moving and so intimate. the phone scene on The Truth About Cats And Dogs is an example of what i love to watch. in Say Anything, the scene where john cusack's character is teaching ione skye's character to drive and then they kiss ... oh it's so sweet and they way he looks at her, oh it's so thrilling. (no! they're not acting!) i can't take my eyes off the screen. and then the scene when they have sex for the first time (in the back seat of his car - OyVey!) but it was so rich with realness. i couldn't get enough of it; they way he looked at her; their accelerated breathing slowing down; they way they touched; the way they spoke to each other and what they said. i just devoured it like a big huge piece of chocolate cake with yummy sugary icing.

i've got another movie date with myself.

the movie: Say Anything.

i'm a sucker for love,

even if it's not mine.

what a classic....i recommend "Some Kind of Wonderful". I remember in my "pre-jason" era, that i would sob at those movies, wishing, hoping, wanting, one day, to feel that way too. Now "post jason" i still sob at those movies, feeling so connected to the love that i am witnessing. Sometimes i wish my emotions were connected to an adjuster so i could turn em down a bit! .
