Other than seeing an ajumma (an old Korean lady) wearing the very same shoes as I was wearing today, I feel no older on this – my 32nd – birthday!
When I went hiking the other day I met another teacher (from Ireland) and we talked and swapped stories. Half way through the conversation I asked her age. Twenty-four! That age sounds so young.
But I know it ~wasn’t~ that long ago that I was 24 and working at an R&D company, learning new skills, filling out nauseating time cards, attending stuffy department meetings and wearing heels and stockings.
But I know it ~was~ that long ago that I was 24 and would be mortified if I saw an old lady wearing the very same shoes as I was wearing.
