if you wait long enough

eventually you get what you want ... or realize you never needed it.

i got one of those "feel-good" chain email letters several months ago with a couple of quotes from Maya Angelou. one quote in particular really spoke to me that day. i loved it so much that i thought i would remember it forever so i deleted the email. a little while later, when i wanted to reread and reflect on that quote again i couldn't find it in my email. i searched high and low on the web for any reference but i could find none. well, that same chain letter came back to me yesterday. this time around, i'm posting that quote to my blog so that i can go back and reflect on it and think about what it means to me any time i want.

"I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights."
-from Oprah's interview with Maya Angelou on her 70th birthday.

speaking of quotes. here's another quote i got today from my brother-in-law:

"Life and love are life and love, a bunch of violets is a bunch of violets, and to drag in the idea of a point is to ruin everything. Live and let live, love and let love, flower and fade, and follow the natural curve, which flows on, pointless."
-DH Lawrence

I really like that quote from Maya Angelou. Isn't that neat how sometimes life just pops in right when you need it to. Growing is fun. I'm glad you are enjoying it too.

i've seen a LOT of rainy days - what i do won't affect when the rain starts or stops. i've never had lost luggage and my christmas tree lights never tangle - somethings to look forward to then!

now give us a smile or you'll have a year of bad luck!

Yeah! Let's grow together! Bring on the sun and the rain. We're gonna need it.
