Ba-All, Ball

So I'll be teaching phonics to Pre-K and K students. Um ... what is phonics? How did I graduate with a degree and get by without knowing anything about phonics? Seriously, I had to look it up. Merriam-Webster says, phonics is a method of teaching beginners to read and pronounce words by learning the phonetic value of letters, letter groups, and especially syllables. Okay, I can do that right? Rr-ight, Right? Thank god for the prepared teaching materials. I'd be so lost. Let's get one thing straight - I'm not a teacher but since English is my native language it is believed that I automatically know what phonics means and therefore should be able to teach it. Logical-kindof.
When is pa-ay, pay day?
