- when you come home to an empty house
- when it's too early to call mom or sister back in the states
- when no one who matters is online
- when you don't have anyone to call
- when a homeless man runs up to you and grabs your neck, ear and hair in one drunken act of insanity while muttering something in a 'common and give it to me' flavor
- when you close your eyes (to protect them!) and back up to get away from his grip, right into a moving truck which hits you not once but twice since the first blow (a strike of the high sitting driver's exterior side-mirror to your ear) spun you around the side of the truck like a large vertical-standing side washing brush you've seen at car washes until your back-left-pelvis catches the back-end of the truck and throws you off your feet and you stumble several times trying to gain your balance while trying to avoid hitting the truck again (it was like a freaking vortex which kept sucking you into it) and while trying to avoid ending up the in the arms of that man
- when you hear quiet gasps from other passerbys who've just seen either this man attack your head or you bouncing off this truck and then back again, or both
- when you feel the sting in your ear and your lower back
- when you look at the driver and see that he stops his truck and puts it in park (presumable he's being responsible and getting ready to get out to see how you're doing)
- when you look for the f*ck*ng *ssh*l* who grabbed at you and see him running down the road
- when you decide to walk away (what can you do? no broken bones. no blood. what can the driver do? and how the hell could you communicate anyhow? and the ass
holeailant has left and you were no longer in any immediate danger) - when you start to tear because you are in a state of complete shock from the assault and from the growing pain
- when you pick up your sweater at the cleaners; that's where you were headed and you feel it's best to stick to the plan (while you tell yourself, 'just keep it together', 'just keep it together', 'just keep it together')
- when you leave the cleaners still dazed and distraught, on the verge of a meltdown - you could have given her 3,000,000 Won instead of 3,000 Won for all you know - and you see the guy staggering just down the road and you promptly change course and walk the long way home from the local market, which isn't really long at all but seems like it's taking forever to get home
- when your silent watery eyes turn into heaving, breath-catching gasps of pitiful weeps as you walk with your head dropped low
- when you come home to an empty house
- when it's too early to call mom or sister back in the states
- when no one who matters is online
- when you don't have anyone to call
you blog about it (after taking pictures of your ass and making yourself some sugar-n-cinnamon butter toast just like your mom used to make)
HIIIIII-YA (that's me hapkido-ing that jerk, though i'd rather break his wrist than his knee cap as demonstrated by this lovely, comforting GIF image below)

check back for photo updates. i bruise easily so this will be a fun photo documentary.
by the time i ever get around to talking about this with someone/anyone, if ever, the tears will have dried up and the shock will have worn off (and the running mascara will be all gone). the pain and swelling will still be there, for a few days anyhow; the bruise will be a longer term token marking the splendid occasion but i'll probably not yet be tired of going over the whole situation (which happened in a matter of seconds) a million and one times in my head to judge what i could have done differently.

oh sue, i am sick to my stomach! and IT IS NEVER TOO EARLY TO CALL ME...EVER!!!!! I cannot believe this has happened and poor mom is going to go through the roof! i'm calling dad now to give him the heads up so he can be on guard ...;)
Unbelievable. I thought you were gonna end that story with a curveball. I'm glad that Chuck Norris was able to teach you something in your life and that this "person" helped you practice. And Janice is right -- it's never a bad time to call if you need someone to talk to. I hope your bruises heal quickly.
Hi Susan! It's Janice's friend Lynn. I just talked to Janice and she told me what happened! I'm so sorry and I'm sending you big hugs, but gentle hugs so not to hurt you!!! Keeping you in my prayers!! (And I also agree with Janice and Jason, you should of called them!!)
