hot and not happy

Right now I feel like bitching because at this very moment I cannot do anything else that comes close to relieving my frustration at the fact that it’s so damn hot.

Yes, teacher, moving is an option * as I say sarcastically, gee why didn’t I think of that? * and thank you for your compassion but right now, right at this very moment, while I’m sitting here in my 35 C (95 F) room sweating as I type away on a keyboard that’s literary hot to the touch, the only option attractive to me right now is drinking cold water and bitching about how hot it is. And once I’m finished doing that I’m going to a café with my books to study in the AC.

These days I’ve been going out to cafes with my books rather than studying at home, taking taxi cabs rather than waiting for the buses, staying on campus to have lunch and then doing my homework rather than coming straight home, and eating out at restaurants rather than cooking at home. I’ve been spending money that I would otherwise be saving. My rationale for the increase in spending: I’m buying AC. It’s just like I were paying the electricity bill if I had lived in a house that had AC, in that during the summer months I’d be paying a little bit higher in electricity costs from running the AC.

The weather is so extreme in this room that:

• My makeup is melting
• Medicine is melting
• Things I have taped to the wall are falling off cause the goo is melting off the tape
• The vinyl covering on my desk is welting from the heat of my laptop
• I sweat while I sleep and turn over and over and over every night into my own wet spots
• My butt sticks to my chair
• I don’t even wear make up any more cause as soon as I get out of the cold shower my face is beaded with sweat
• My feet and ankles are swollen
• My roommate and I walk around in our underwear
• I’ve two fans running

I’ve stopped hiking in the mornings so that I can try to sleep in. Due to the heat I get so little sleep and my general attitude is so lethargic during the day that I often fall asleep in class and come home feeling too groggy to lift a finger but too hot and annoyed to sleep.

I have no motivation to do anything or go anywhere. Last night I skipped dancing cause it was too hot to get dressed. I opted for staying home and being naked.

During the day the walls heat up and by night the rooms are just steaming and cooking, even when the temperature outside has dropped. If I had a tent I’d happily sleep outside on the patio.

My roommate and her boyfriend checked into a hotel last night to avoid sleeping – if you can call it that – in this house.

I’m using FanGUI to read temperatures of my CPU and HD. They are respectively: 158 F and 122 F.

If the weather doesn’t break soon, I fear that I’ll have a total system meltdown.
