i once heard that to learn something new (such as a new word) one needs to intentionally use or recall that piece of data three different times, after which time the new data will be a part of one's data repository. the idea is that repetition facilitates learning. i've often used my blog as an outlet for repeating stuff i wanna commit to memory, such is the case today.
this post is just for me.
so don't read it.
- there is no such word as UNATTENTIVE, it's spelled INATTENTIVE!
- there is no such word as BEHOLDENT, it's spelled BEHOLDEN!
- there is such a word as PLUMATE but it does not have the same meaning as PLUMMET!
- good is a adjective; "he looks good in his new suit"
- well is an adverb, unless it is being use as "healthy" or "satisfactory" or "fortunate"; "she speaks English well" and "i'm well, thank you"
- "drive safe" is incorrect. "drive safely" is correct. an adverb is needed becuase the verb is being modified
- but the verbs smell, looked and felt suggest states of being, not actions so they should be followed by adjectives not adverbs; "she felt bad about missing the game"

I wonder where Mrs Montanari is now. Remember her advice: never use the word "being" unless it follows the word "human."
