i don't want to stop

i just spent 6 hours with these two.

last night i had a 3-hour Beginner II Salsa seminar/workshop with special guests Gerald Cote and April Sakaluk, champion dancers from Canada, and friends of my teacher at You Can Dance Studio. they are in town this week to attend my teacher's wedding which is tomorrow. (actually both of the teachers at You Can Dance Studio are getting married to each other.)

today i had a 3-hour Swing (East and West Coast) seminar/workshop with these two fabulous dancers preforming at a West Coast Swing dance competition:

i don't know what kind of life a dancer has or what kind of money can be had from it but every so often i get this little pang in my gut that sends a thought up to my brain which then wonders for a second if i was meant for a different direction in life than the one i took.

but it doesn't matter now.

at this point in my life, dancing will be something i do for fun and for exercise. but i'm pretty sure the heart and soul with which i love it is the stuff passions are made of. the kind of passion that takes you places.

i can clearly remember coming home from school (high school i guess) and turning on BET and moving the coffee table out of the way and trying to copy the dance moves in the R&B, Hip Hop and Rap videos. my dad can attest to it since i remember several times as he passed from one room to the next through the kitchen which has an open view of the living room, peering over at my spastic moves and floor thumping with a curious look on his face. and i remember fantasizing about being one of the girls on a chorus line tossing my legs up into the air like stiff rubber Barbie legs.

i never took any of that and turned it into something else so that is why i'm 33 and having an absolute blast with dancing. i don't want to stop.

but, right now, my feet hurt!
