new doctors

after 2 weeks of being sick and because my cheekbones and eye sockets became sore, I decided to go to the doctors ~ new doctors, not the International Clinic in Itaewon and not the Yonsei Hospital. I went to the clinic in Insadong. they spoke enough english to communicate my symptoms and ask things like "breath in, breath out" and "do you have any drug allergies". i was in and out of there in under 20 minutes and that includes the time it took to sign in, wait for doctor, see the doctor (which took all of 2 minutes) and pay for my visit; same with the pharmacy; in and out in a flash. I have 4 drugs for the next 3 days.

the doctor listened to my chest and she said it didn't sound bad enough to warrant x-rays but she said that i was running a temperature of 37.3 (= 99.14 degrees Fahrenheit) so she gave me some drugs:

1. antibiotics
2. Tylenol
3. something digestion (common korean practice to give along with other drugs)
4. some steroids

no alcohol, no exercising, no sauna, no sweating (?)

in 3 days i will be finished with my cocktail of medication and hopefully feeling better.

i've purchased anti-fungal spray and moisture eaters as a temporary fix to my mold problem for which i'm still investigating a long-term solution.

take care of your health

if for nothing more than peace of mind...i'm glad you went. bacterial infections usually do require some type of medication...curl up with a new coloring book, some crayons, and control of the remote...that was the best remedy mom ever gave me.

That hippo or whatever it is on that packaging looks tough enough to handle any bacteria!

Hey... I'm getting a little worried here. Steroids? Good grief. You must have some serious symptoms to warrant such treatment. The steroids will be a temporary booster - it's the antibiotic that will 'kill' whatever is got you so sick - and three days is a pretty short time frame to expect that to happen. You might be better in three days but watch day four, five and six.

Sue's Mom, I'd think the steroids are of the anti-inflammatory sort (corticosteroids), to help open Sue's internal airways. I'd agree 3 days seems a short anti-biotic run but then we don't know how strong Korean anti-biotics are.
