i knew it was ages ago that i set up my hotmail account and ever since ages ago i've been using that same email (now as my secondary email to my gmail account). i remember that, at the time, only 8 characters were allowed when setting up the hotmail email account so that is why my hotmail account is shorter than necessary with a truncated last name.

i graduated from college back in May of 1997
i started working in June of 1997
i cannot exactly remember why i set up a hotmail account back in April of 1999 but i do remember that matt encourage me too do so. i have a guess that it was related to my starting an online brokerage account which matt helped me do. at that point in time people my age were making HUGE bucks off short term tech stock investments and matt encouraged me to at least get in the game by opening some online brokerage account and at least starting my own individual brokerage account (IBA) and individual retirement account (IRA) and a Roth IRA, in addition to the 401k from the company. setting up an account with Fidelity online required an email account and it was best to have a non-work, non-school realated email account for that purpose so that is i believe why i started my hotmail account, 10 years ago this month.
as for my online investment accounts, i'm getting no thank you emails from them! haha
